7 Ways to Deal with a Cowgirl's Mature Skin

Even after years of outgrowing the hormonal stage of unpredictable skin, many cowgirls still suffer from skin issues. These issues usually stem from hormonal imbalance, lifestyle influences, and sun exposure.

Once past the teenage years, your skin concerns change, and you worry more about the effects of aging. Some of the skin issues an adult faces include: sunburn, adult acne, cellulite, blemishes, fine lines, razor bumps, age spots, melasma (pregnancy mask), wrinkles and sun damage.

Here are some ways to prevent or reverse skin damage:

  • Don’t use long wear foundation: if you are still experiencing acne breakouts, don’t clog your pores with heavy makeup. Doing this will block the pores from hydration and encourage sebum build up that will eventually lead to more breakouts and an oily face. Try our Rio Grande Liquid Foundation or Silk Veil.

  • Exercise often: apart from all the awesome ways it can improve your health, exercise also helps you sleep well. Most of the skin repair and cell renewal that goes on in your body takes place at night. This way, you wake up every day renewed and healthy looking.

  • Hydrate your skin: use rich creams like the Churned Butter Body Moisturizer that work to moisturize and hydrate your skin. When you get a tight, pulled feeling in your facial muscles, it is because your skin is too dry and stretched. Use our hydrating face cream, Morning Dew Face Moisturizer. Also drink a lot of water. It’s not only good for your metabolism, but also for your skin. Hydrate your skin from the inside and the outside.

  • Cut out the smoke: smoking dries up your skin. It is in no way healthy. It causes premature aging and depletes nutrients like Vitamin C leaving the skin without sun protection. If you want to maintain good skin, you can’t be smoking. Smoking also starves the skin of oxygen. Studies show that smoking one cigarette can constrict blood flow for up to an hour and a half. That is 90 minutes of oxygen your skin is not getting, from just one stick.

  • Eat foods that contain antioxidants: fruits and vegetables are very rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants fight against damage done to cells encouraging cell renewal which leaves you with younger looking skin.

  • Try topical Vitamin C: to protect against damage from UVA and UVB rays, you can use topically applied Vitamin C serums. Doing this helps to soothe inflammation of the skin or resulting issues.

  • Develop a skincare routine: you need to be dedicated to a skincare routine. Feed your skin with all the good stuff it needs daily. Choose products that suit your skin type and tone. Shop around in our extensive skincare store to find products that work for you.

Some cases of adult skin issues can be very frustrating and embarrassing to a point. However, to take control of them, you should be ready to dedicate some time and effort into it. Even on a budget, you can still find amazing products that work well for you. Click here to browse our stores.

8 Tips To Make The Cowboys Look Your Way

Are you the kind of cowgirl that loves her bling?

Do you always have your mascara and lipgloss tucked into your saddlebag?

If you are we would love to here some of your makeup tips. Share them with us in a comment below. If you are not as keen to all the makeup tricks and techniques we want to share a few with you today that will help you get that perfect cowgirl radiance.

πŸ’„    Never Use Concealer as a Base on Eyelids.

You definitely don’t want to ruin your makeup with creases on your eyelids. Instead of using a concealer, it is better to go with a base eye shadow color of your choice. This will prevent your eye shadow from collecting in the creases of your eyelids.

πŸ’„  Use Fingers to Apply Foundation.

If you want the best coverage of your face, it is better to apply foundation with the help of your fingers. It will bring an even tone to all your face. Once on, use a brush to get a smooth coverage.

πŸ’„  Apply powder to oily areas first...

You definitely know the shinier spots of your face; apply more powder here to control the shine. Brush the rest with light application of powder.

πŸ’„  Ensure an even tone...

There is nothing worse than having "the makeup line" on your chin or neck. Keep an even skin tone by applying bronzer on your face, neck, and even chest. Also, when selecting a foundation find one that matches the skin on your neck so it blends in flawlessly.

πŸ’„  Smile to get your blush picture-perfect...

Smile brilliantly, bring the brush back and forth towards and away from the jawline. Blend the blush on the apple of your cheek. Now you have your perfect shimmery cheeks.

πŸ’„  Long lasting lip color...

After an hour or so, most lipsticks vanish leaving lips plain. The best trick to keep your lipstick intact is to apply some face powder on the lips before applying the lipstick. Drink and eat whatever you want and the lipstick will stay there. Another trick is to use a little pressure when applying lipstick to make sure it goes all the way to the inner corners of your mouth.

πŸ’„  Applying eye brow color...

If you want to lift your face up, apply the brow pencil on the upper portion of the eyebrow.

πŸ’„  For defining eyeliner...

Get as close to your mirror as possible and lift your chin a bit. Apply the eyeliner by looking downwards and make sure to do it in a single take.

These few tips will help you in getting that captivating look for your next rodeo.
